You are sensible, brave and strong to overcome maternal forebodings of option two.

I'm not sure I've completely overcome them - this evening I found myself examining the resulting cake closely, with my glasses on, looking for glinting glass!

You are very very brave. Or maybe just hungry?

It kind of depends what the cake is for. Like, who'll be eating it?

You're a braver woman than I!

I think I'm a domestic anti-christ, myself.

TC, the cake was intended for small boy's morning tea at school. Indeed, he had it for morning tea at school yesterday with no ill effects. However, having been assured I was brave, I began to feel extremely foolhardy instead and threw the remaining cake out this morning!
I think I couldn't bear not to go ahead with it as I'd put so much time and effort into it and was in a rush to go out for the evening - it felt like a frustrating case of cakeus interruptus. Maybe I just needed to be able to take something out of the oven.

'Maybe I just needed to be able to take something out of the oven."

This close to Christ-mas - be very careful about buns in the oven. Once has been quite enough thank you.

Is everyone still alive?

Sure! We're all fine.
