A friend of mine had a late term abortion for "social reasons" as the article calls it. She was in a relationship with a man whose name is well known in Victoria for activism on behalf of the disadvantaged. Unfortunately, somehow he was unable to carry these excellent qualities into his domestic life and he was abusive and, eventually, violent. It was when the bad stuff escalated that she found herself pregnant. It wasn't until the second or third trimester that she realised that she would never be safe, and neither would her child be.
I guess anti-abortionists would say "just move away!" but she has two children from a previous relationship, and that kind of thing's more easy to say than to put into practice. And if he came after her, what then.
Very interesting. Religion has alot to answer for.
