The bottlebrush in my back garden is now out in full force...it looks great but leaves mounds of red stuff for me to sweep up.

That's something I really noticed about visiting Sydney - the freeway between the airport and the city is a tunnel of green and red, mainly bottlebrushes - but there were quite a few healthy, bushy sheoaks as well. All the plantings were really healthy and well maintained.

Compare and contrast the freeways, highways and ring road around Melbourne's west: Flat, dull and minus bushy plantings, rubbish blowing around. The Melbourne RTA (Road Traffic Authority) needs to come and have a look at Sydney.

...and now our bottlebrushes are, gloriously, out too.
The honeyeaters are deliriously happy.
