Our water bill arrived today and with it one of those 'customer newsletters' which I usually don't bother to read. But I did glance at this one, which had a graph showing the average amount of water they would expect a water-efficient household to use. For a three-person household, daily use would be 447 litres a day.
I turned over our bill and discovered that our three-person household, for the past three months, has used ... ta da, 445 litres of water a day!
And we're not strictly a water-efficient household as we don't have dual flush toilets or efficient shower heads. So there is still room for improvement. (We're probably renovating our bathroom next year, so will put off strict water-efficiency till then.)
