Bluntly, I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of the snipers in the city WERE US Secret Service.

Make of that what you will.

If it's any consolation, no empire lasts forever, and their lifespans seem to get shorter and shorter as the millenia pass. So the White House may not be able to bully the world forever (although I selfishly hope that the costs I and mine pay aren't too high for the breath of freedom that will blow across the globe when that day occurs).

I don't much listen to the news, I certainly don't watch it, so I'm afraid I can't tell you how large the summit loomed in the States. My sneaking suspicion is that most US residents were barely aware of it. Far more attention was devoted to an 18yo actress's naked photos and to the expectations around the release of Petreus's report on Iraq.

What's an APEC? (No, I am not joking. I haven't heard of whatever it is.)
