over 40 motherhood

Last Sunday's newspaper ran an article called 'Better Late' about women who've had their first children over the age of 40. When I went to look for it online, I discovered that it had first been published in the UK Telegraph last February, The print version we saw was the same article but with Australian add-ons - side stories about Australian woman who'd become mothers at 'elderly primigravada' ages.

child rights

The Same Sex Miscellaneous Bill was passed on Tuesday night in the NSW state parliament. It reformed 57 Acts and made important changes to legislation in relation to lesbian mothers and their children. As a result of this act, co-parent can be added to Olle's birth certificate and her name can be added as his parent whenever he fills out official forms throughout his lifetime, including passport forms. This makes us all very happy!

The Australian Breastfeeding Association presents two benefit screenings of the Ricki Lake documentary
The Business of Being Born on Wednesday February 20 at 10.30am and 7pm.

Susan Ross, author of Birth Right, will introduce the film and give an Australian perspective on the childbirth industry.
