comedies
Via Jody, I came across this quiz which I guess I should call a meme as it's now hit the blogs: which five comedies would you take with you to a desert island? Not in order of preference and off the top of my head:
- the collected Seinfeld
- the collected Dick Van Dyke Shows (which we've borrowed from a friend and have been enjoying watching en famille)
- Bringing Up Baby
- The Party
- Four Weddings and a Funeral
I guess to make it a meme I should send it on to others - consider yourself invited!
Life of Brian
Collected Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister
Family Guy
The Goons (on audio cassette I imagine!)
A surpise - eg something chosen by someone who knows me well.

Oooo. Collections from TV.
I would shame-facedly include M*A*S*H, even the late holier-than-thou seasons, because I watched them (and re-watched them) with my Dad, and they would remind me of home. Also, they hold up much better than you'd expect.
But I'm not sure what I'd eliminate from my list. Probably one of the modern things.

I am terrible at these sorts of questions, since all memories of things I like fly out of my brain when I'm asked to make a list. But I think I would take MASH, too. And the Muppet Show. And Steve Martin's movie Housesitter, which we often watch when we want to simply laugh on a tired Friday night.

MASH, yes, very funny then and now.
Phil I had to look up Family Guy as I'd never heard of it. Yes PM I also liked a lot.
